The Philadelphia Flyers overcame an ugly first-period injury to defenseman Chris Pronger to turn back the Toronto Maple Leafs with a 4-2 home victory that ended their slump on Monday.

Pronger was hit in the face with his own stick after fighting for a loose puck with Toronto's Mikhail Grabovski and immediately skated off the ice not to return.

He's going to see the eye doctor every day for the next four days, Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren told reporters.

If everything goes OK and the swelling goes down, we're hoping he could rejoin the team in 10 days to two weeks - skating-wise, not necessarily playing.

The Flyers (5-2-1), who had lost three of their last four games entering the night, recovered from the loss of their team captain with two goals each from Jaromir Jagr and Scott Hartnell.

Jagr's goals were his first since his previous season in the NHL in 2008 before he left to play in Russia for three years.

I'm glad (I scored) tonight. You guys aren't going to ask me (about it) anymore, Jagr said.

With a strong offense in front of him, Philadelphia goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky made 24 saves to stall the Maple Leafs (5-2-1).

Toronto's Phil Kessel scored his NHL-leading ninth goal of the season to give the visitors a 1-0 edge, but Jagr answered in the first while Hartnell netted in the second and third periods to put Philadelphia 3-1 up.

David Steckel pulled the Maple Leafs back within a goal on a tip-in at 11:34 in the third before Jagr put the game away with his second goal with 4:45 left in the game.
