The PlayStation changed the face of gaming when it was first available to the public in 1994 in Japan for about $299. The PlayStation had better graphics and a faster processor than anything on the market at the time, and for the first time, gamers could load games directly from CDs.

But the PlayStation 4, the fourth iteration of the cult-following gaming console, is $100 more expensive than the first PlayStation and packs a lot more punch.

Back in the 90s, Grand Tourismo, a race car game, was the most popular game played on the PlayStation. Today, the top spot goes to Call of Duty: Ghosts, a first person shooter game.
