EA CFO Blake Jorgenson recently said at the Stifel 2013 Technology Conference that the game publisher will continue to support the Xbox 360 and PS3 with game releases until 2017. Among the big-name gaming franchises under the EA umbrella are "Madden," "FIFA," "SimCity," "The Sims," "Battlefield," "Need for Speed," Command & Conquer" and more.

While the Xbox One and PS4 will be released fairly soon, it's good to see that previous-generation platforms will still be supported by a big publisher like EA. Though both the Xbox 360 and PS3 are dated, they're still selling. According to market research firm NPD, console hardware sales totaled $109.5 million last month alone. Considering the weak sales figures of the Wii U, it's safe to assume that a significant amount of those dollars went toward sales of both the Xbox 360 and PS3. It's nice to notice that those who bought the system recently as well gamers who bought the systems early on will continue to see EA releases on those platforms for several years to come.
