Psy’s "Gentleman" has recently surpassed 200 million views in just over a week, topping charts and setting new records, including breaking the record of most views in 24 hours at 20 million hits, a record previously held by “Boyfriend” by Justin Bieber.

While Psy is the most known K-Pop artist around the world, K-Pop, which stands for Korean Pop, has been around long before the invasion of Psy’s "Gangnam Style" and "Gentleman." Here are some videos that have taken the K-pop music scene over the past few years.

1. Girls’ Generation – "Gee" (2009)

Prior to the explosion of Gangnam Style, Gee by Girls’ Generation held the title for the most-viewed K-pop video on YouTube. With its bubbly and light style, it held that record until Sept. 1, 2012.

2. Brown Eyed Girls -- "Abracadabra" (2010)

In "Gentleman," Psy performs a dance known as the "Abracadabra," whose namesake originates from this Brown Eyed Girls music single and music video.

3. 2NE1 -- "I Am The Best" (2011)

2NE1's "I Am The Best" mixes hip-hop beats with K-pop dance flavor. It has proven to be so popular that it was featured in Dance Central 3, a music video game developed by Harmonix.

4. Hyuna -- "Bubble Pop" (2011)

"Bubble Pop" drew much controversy in South Korea upon its release and subsequent promotional ban by Korea Broadcasting and Communications Review Committee (KCC) for its sexually suggestive choreography.

5. KISS -- "Because I’m a girl" (2001)

In the early days of social media and networking, this video spread virally throughout many Xanga and Myspace pages. Its love story in the video proved to be so popular that versions of the song were produced in other languages, including English, Tagalog, Mandarin and Cantonese.

6. & 7. Big Bang -- "Blue" / "Bad Boy" (2012)

Big Bang hosted a cover contest on YouTube prompting thousands of contestants to submit their dance, vocal, band, costume, creative and instrumental covers in hopes of winning a trip to Seoul or other prizes.
