Dolly Parton's theme park and resort, Dollywood, in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, is not content with operating for 30 years. With rides and attractions for kids and adults alike, Dollywood is planning a thrill ride that will rival the great roller coasters of America. The Lightning Rod coaster was announced Friday and will be the "world's fastest and first wood launch coaster." It will open in March 2016.

The Lightning Rod will be more than 20 stories high and reach a top speed of 73 miles per hour. "Lightning Rod rockets riders around its massive wooden structure on an adrenaline-charged lap through the trees in the hills and valleys surrounding Dollywood. During the ride, guests experience nearly 20 seconds of airtime," reads the announcement. The ride includes a 165-foot droop and a 90+ degree banked breaking wave turn.

Friday's announcement saw Parton arrive in a hot rod. "You know I'm not going to ride that thing. I got too much to lose," the country legend exclaimed. Another choice quote occurs during the Lightning Rod's first drop where Parton declares, "There goes my hair!" As an added bonus, Parton sings beginning around the 11:45 mark.

Parton may best be known for her country music legacy and movie roles, but she's also quite the businesswoman. Through Dollywood Productions, she's launched a theme park, resort and water park while her Dollywood Foundation oversees her charitable efforts. Her reported net worth is upwards of $450 million.
