Who knew the future in "Back to the Future" would be here already? The second installment (1989) in the hit movie franchise featured Marty McFly traveling into the then-distant future -- Oct. 21, 2015 -- and finding "amazing" inventions such as flat-panel TVs with six channels. With that "future" date coming soon, there's a flurry of promotinal activity by brands trying to get in on the fun. Pepsi on Monday announced it will release a limited-edition Pepsi Perfect bottle, and Universal Pictures released a trailer for "Jaws 19," a reference to a prediction made in "BTTF".

Pepsi introduced the Pepsi Perfect bottle in a new video complete with a catchy jingle. There will be just 6,500 bottles of Pepsi Perfect available for $20.15 each. The collectible items will be on sale at select retailers and on Amazon and given away at the New York Comic Con beginning Thursday.

In the future predicted by "Back to the Future Part II," "Jaws" became a massive franchise spanning 19 films. The actual "Jaws" franchise lasted four movies, with "Jaws: The Revenge" released in 1987. Universal Pictures had some fun figuring out how to come up with 15 additional "Jaws" entries for the "Jaws 19" trailer. "Cyber Jaws," "Robo Jaws," "Jaws" in outer space, a "Jaws" prequel and "Jaws 17: Fifty Scales of Grey" were just a few titles.

Hoverboards, flying cars, self-tying shoes and the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series were just a few things "Back to the Future Part II" predicted. Several companies, including Lexus, are playing around with the idea of a hoverboard, but no one will be soaring through the air on one any time soon. Nike released a limited edition Air Mag sneaker in 2011, but it did not feature power laces.

As for the Cubs, there's some hope. The team is playing the Pittsburgh Pirates in the NL Wild Card Wednesday. If they advance, the Cubs would play the St. Louis Cardinals in a National League Division Series.
