One of the “Quantico” trainees is a little too good at his job. According to the episode 9 synopsis, Simon (Tate Ellington) will do his job too well, making his bosses suspicious. In the future, Alex (Priyanka Chopra) has to figure out how to make the FBI less suspicious of her, so they'll believe her when she claims that someone else is planting a bomb.
The NATs (new agents in training) will be introduced to Dr. Langdon (Anne Heche), who will lead their lesson this week. Could she be temporarily replacing Miranda (Aunjanue Ellis), who was found bleeding at the end of the last episode? It isn’t clear, but Dr. Langdon will play close attention to Miranda’s students. “Dr. Langdon is a former agent and profiler who tasks the trainees with looking at serial killer cases to find the one victim that doesn’t fit the case,” the synopsis teases.
Apparently, the new teacher doesn’t expect her students to be overly successful. “But when Simon becomes too good at finding things that don’t belong, it’s his life that becomes endangered.” In the future, Alex and the other agents believed that Simon had left the FBI. Could this be the act that gets him temporarily kicked out?
In the flash-forwards, Alex will be the one who has to convince the FBI that she has good intentions. She turned herself in at the end of episode 8 to warn the government about a possible second bombing. “Alex is interrogated by a highly sophisticated FBI team while Ryan’s [Jake McLaughlin] life hangs in the balance,” the synopsis warns. Will the feds finally believe her? The episode is titled “Guilty,” which might hint at what they’ll continue to think of her.
Also, what kind of trouble is Ryan in now? When we left him, Alex sent him off in a helicopter with members of the Unknown. Executive producer Joshua Safron revealed that they won’t get to their intended destination. “It didn’t land in a lovely area,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s landed more in hell.” In the promo video for the new episode it looks like the FBI has captured him and they might torture him in order to get answers out of Alex.
