To mark the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II on April 21, the Berkeley Hotel in London is unveiling a royal-themed afternoon tea from April 18 to April 24. The Prêt-à-Portea: Royal Collection tea will feature specially created biscuits, fancies and choux buns. These will resemble famous accessories from the queen, Princess Beatrice and Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.

The famous designs will include a recreation of the Launer London handbag that Queen Elizabeth II accessorized with at her grandson Prince William’s wedding to Kate in April 2011. Among the designs also is a blueberry hat cake that is reminiscent of a chapeau from one of the 89-year-old royal’s favorite milliners, Rachel Trevor-Morgan. Besides, there is also the now famous Philip Treacy fascinator that Princess Beatrice wore to Will and Kate’s wedding.

The cookies will also have the Gina Foster fascinator Kate wore to Zara Phillip’s July 2011 wedding and the Angela Kelly maple leaf hat she wore while touring Canada. The latter will be made from a red strawberry panacea macaron. Also a pink hat that is suited for a garden party has been transformed into a crown cookie.

The hotel is also offering a masterclass titled Royal Masterclass on how to bake the selection of delectable treats from their afternoon tea. The workshop will be available to the public from April 16 through June 30. The class will be conducted by head pastry chef Mourad Khiat and will be followed with a relaxing glass of champagne.

Elizabeth will celebrate two set of birthdays this year — one on her real birthday that falls on April 21 and the other on her official birthday in June. As it will be her 90th birthday, the queen’s milestone will be celebrated with a host of events in the country. Her official birthday weekend will kick off on June 10.

British puzzle maker Wentworth is offering a chic souvenir puzzle to commemorate the special occasion. The royal family is hosting a special four-day bash from May 12 to May 15 near Windsor castle. During her official birthday week, a Patron’s Lunch will be held on June 12 which is part of a huge street party on June 12. Her grandson, Peter Phillips is organizing the event to honor the various charities the monarch supports.
