'Rainbow Six Siege' Review Roundup
"Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege" is the latest entry in the popular tactical FPS franchise. Ubisoft

Earlier this month, reddit user Klumpaen leaked some fascinating details regarding the upcoming Rainbow Six Siege Year 2 Season 2 update, which will introduce new Hong Kong operators and a Hong Kong map. According to uncovered source codes, the new Hong Kong attacker is codenamed Dazzler. Armed with a QBZ-95 assault rifle, Dazzler purportedly carries "blind-spot" grenades. Next, the Hong Kong defender, codenamed Caltrop, is armed with a JS9 SMG and said to have a toxic mine with a cloaking ability that will make the device difficult to spot.

Not a lot is known about the operators, but it's very interesting to see that the Chinese operators promise to introduce Chinese-made firearms to the game as well.

First up, the QBZ-95 is a bullpup-style assault rifle manufactured since 1995 by Arsenal 266, under Jianshe Corp., for the Chinese army. The rifle is notorious for using a Chinese-developed 5.8x42mm DBP87 ammunition and also fires the NATO standard 5.56×45mm SS109 and the Russian 5.45×39mm.

Although the QBZ-95 has served in foreign conflicts, little is known about the weapon's combat effectiveness. But according to China's People's Liberation Army, the 5.8mm cartridge outperforms both NATO's 5.56 and Russia's 5.45 with a flatter trajectory, better velocity retention and more stored energy downrange. The PLA also claim its ammunition boasts superior penetration compared to the 5.56.

Next is the JS 9 mm, which is a QCW-05 export variant suppressed SMG, also developed by Jianshe Industries. As the moniker suggests, the JS 9 fires 9x19mm rounds as well as the armor-piercing 9x19mm DAP92-9 round. Design-wise, the JS 9 mm is smaller and lighter than the QCW-05 and features a bullpup design, like the QBZ-95.

Lastly, the new Hong Kong map could be called Ocean Park, according to the leak. Ocean Park is a very popular aquatic theme park in Hong Kong, so it should be a very exciting and pretty map if this is true.

We expect to learn more about the Rainbow Six Siege Year 2 Season 2 DLC in the weeks ahead.
