A look at the gameplay of "Rainbow Six Siege." Ubisoft

Rainbow Six Siege was one of several titles to be heavily impacted by Ubisoft’s server outage Tuesday, and, as a result, the game’s developers are offering compensation. From now until about 5 p.m. EDT, you’ll get 50 percent more renown for your efforts. A tweet revealed the news Tuesday evening.

In Rainbow Six Siege, renown is the in-game currency that allows players to purchase new gear, weapon attachments and Operators as rewards for skillful play. It can be tied to quality KD ratios in ranked or by completing specific challenges. Regardless of method, combatants will be given a bit more for a little while.

For our money, that’d be a great time to earn renown to unlock awesome characters like Glaz or Fuze, but the choice is really up to an individual’s play style.

For about six hours Tuesday morning, almost all major Ubisoft game servers were taken offline. Service has since been restored, but the communities for titles like Siege, For Honor and Ghost Recon Wildlands were briefly cut off from multiplayer action. So far, this renown event tied to a specific game is the only one we’ve seen that makes up for the lost time.

Following a major update in the middle of March, Rainbow Six Siege multiplayer is very much in a subdued, minor-tweak cycle. The recent deployment of public test servers will hopefully make the game’s future updates more stable than ever before.

Rainbow Six Siege is available now on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
