The comedy world mourned the death of Ralphie May after the 45-year-old was found dead in a bedroom at a private Las Angeles residence. The funnyman battled pneumonia for six weeks and likely died Friday after suffering a “massive heart attack,” TMZ reported Monday.

Despite being sick, May continued to perform. His last appearance was at Harrah’s the night before his untimely death. He was “presumably sleeping” when he died, TMZ wrote. He was discovered at 1 p.m. EDT.

May passed away before help arrived and was not taken to the hospital. He was pronounced dead at 1:28 p.m. EDT.

A coroner was investigating his death, though there were no signs of foul play.

“We are heartbroken to announce the untimely death of our friend, Ralphie May,” his publicist said in a statement Friday. “Ralphie had been battling pneumonia and had cancelled a handful of dates over the last month in an effort to recover. Earlier this morning at a private residence in Las Vegas his body was discovered.”

Celebrity comics took to Twitter to mourn the stand-up star, who garnered fame in 2003 after he finished in second place on “Last Comic Standing.”

“I'm at a loss for words to hear about the passing of comedian Ralfie May. He was a friend to many and a father of 2 beautiful children. RIP,” Gabriel Iglesias wrote.

“Whoa... man.. this sucks. Ralphie was a good guy & a very funny person. Condolences to his family & fans,” Dane Cook tweeted.

“Ralphie May. Dammit. You were a funny and sweet mofo man. Rest in Peace,” said.

“So sad to hear about Ralphie. Sweet guy. He loved doing stand up and loved comedians,” Jim Gaffigan penned.
