U.S. rapper Jim Jones pleaded guilty on Monday to misdemeanor assault charges related to a fight in Manhattan's Louis Vuitton store last December.

Jones, 33, pleaded guilty to punching Jayvon Smith, who had accompanied R&B singer Ne-Yo to the Fifth Avenue luxury clothing store. He was sentenced by New York State Supreme Court Judge Robert Mandelbaum to time already served.

I'm just working on the music and trying to steer clear of any trouble, Jones, who performed over the weekend with rapper 50 Cent, told reporters after his court appearance.

His latest album Pray IV Reign was released in March.
