New Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is eyeing a shock move for his former star player.

The Italian has been confirmed as the new Bernabeu manager for less than a month, but according to Spanish newspaper Marca could bring striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic with him from Paris Saint-Germain.

The 31-year-old Swede has apparently formed a close relationship with Ancelotti, and Marca reports Ibrahimovic’s agent reached out to Madrid. However the Spanish giants turned down the overture due to Ibrahimovic’s salary demands.

PSG officials would want far more than Ibrahimovic’s current estimated market value of £26.5 million, especially given the exorbitant fees and promised salary they paid just last year to acquire the player from AC Milan.

Netting 30 goals last season, the creative and powerfully built Ibrahimovic led PSG to their first Ligue 1 title in 20 years. The pairing of Ibrahimovic with Cristiano Ronaldo would be a formidable duo that could terrorize La Liga and Champions League for years.

Otherworldly transfer fees aside, the move would be in line with Ibrahimovic’s nomadic play over the years. He’s played for seven different teams since making his professional debut in 1999.

Bernabeu officials have also targeted Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, and have already made an offer of £36 million to the Serie A champions, according to Talk Sport.

Hoping to fend off Arsenal and Manchester United, Ancelotti wants to strengthen his new midfield and Vidal would be the player to do it. The 26-year-old Chilean tallied 10 goals and eight assists during Juventus’s last campaign.

Based off reports out of Italy, TalkSport also said that the Juventuas are already in discussions regarding an extension with Vidal, and will try to keep him.

Madrid are also hoping to keep Ronaldo at the Bernabeu. United and Manchester City are still making reported overtures for the 28-year-old superstar, but thus far Madrid has resisted.

According to the the Daily Star, it appears the two English clubs are fighting each other for Ronaldo’s services. City reportedly told Ronaldo’s representatives that they would match any offer made by United, including a £300,000-per-week wage.
