No show has a better formula for success than “The Real World.” Unfortunately, even the best of formulas can get stale after 30 long seasons. That’s why MTV has decided to shake things up for the show’s newest installment, titled “Real World: Skeletons,” which debuted its first trailer on Nov. 25.

Season 30 of "The Real World" will begin just like any other. Seven attractive 20-somethings from diverse backgrounds will move into a house in a random city (Chicago this time around) and will be prompted to "stop being polite and start being real." But this crop of roommates will get the surprise of their life every other week when someone from each person’s past arrives at the house to move in and confronts them.

Among those who signed up for the new season are a man who never knew his estranged father, a recovering drug addict and a self-proclaimed heartbreaker. Viewers will be able to see the exact moment that these troubled young men and women come face to face with their pasts.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time the show has experimented with a surprise twist. Last season was titled “Real World: Ex-Plosion,” which forced the Season 29 roommates to live with their former boyfriends and girlfriends.

“As I was going through the audition process, I heard about the Ex-Plosion twist last season,” Season 30 member Tony told E! News. “But I had no clue they were going to do it again this season.”

The first trailer, featured below, shows exactly what happens when the roommates stop being polite, and start being blindsided.

“You do understand that this will be the first episode of ‘Real World’ where someone gets, like, killed, right?” one roommate says in the trailer. You can watch MTV’s first tease for “The Real World: Skeletons” below to prep for the Dec. 16 premiere at 10 p.m. EST.
