“Red Dead Redemption 2” was just announced last month and a lot of fans are now wondering how it will compare to the 2010 original. Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, spoke earlier today to shed some light on what fans should expect from the highly anticipated sequel.

The executive first discussed how fans reacted to the teaser trailer for “Red Dead Redemption 2” stating that he wasn’t shocked by it and that he was “very pleased.” The teaser trailer also exceeded Take-Two’s expectations in terms of the number of views and has assessed that the “anticipation is enormous” for the upcoming game.

Zelnick then discussed how it’s the perfect time for RDR2 to succeed just like how the original “Red Dead Redemption” did back in 2010. “"The conventional wisdom was of course that a western wouldn't work," Zelnick said about the original game during the MKM Partners event (via GameSpot).

“We took a different point of view, which is that very occasionally westerns capture the imagination of the public. When we launched Red Dead, it did. And those times were right for that. And I think the times are right for a big, sprawling, optimistic view of America again--and that's not meant to be cute.”

Zelnick followed up his statement by adding that story of “Red Dead Redemption 2” will have “incredible emotional depth.” He also said that fans can expect that the game will have “great story elements and great gameplay elements.”

Since the announcement of “Red Dead Redemption 2,” Take-Two Interactive has kept quite on the game’s specifics. The only known information about the upcoming sequel is that it will have timed exclusive online content for PlayStation 4 gamers. Rockstar Games, the developer for the “Red Dead” series, hasn’t even confirmed if the sequel will be coming to the PC or the Nintendo Switch, as pointed out by GameRant.

“Red Dead Redemption 2” is slated to be released in fall 2017 for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.
