To quote Apollo Creed, ding ding.

That's probably what someone should have said when Red Sox slugger David Ortiz and Baltimore hurler Kevin Gregg mixed it up on the field during a recent game between the two rivals. During the 8th inning of the game, Gregg threw a couple of inside pitches that grazed the big DH. Ortiz shouted a warning to Gregg after the second pitch saying if he did it again there would be consequences.

On the third pitch, also inside, Ortiz popped out. As he was trotting down the first base line, Gregg motioned to him to essentially move along. Ortiz, normally calm and collected, lost his cool when he saw the pitcher do this and stormed the mound.

Ortiz got a few swings in on Gregg before the Red Sox and Orioles benches cleared out. Gregg, the fiery veteran reliever, didn't back down and got in a few swings on the big man. Both were ejected after the fight as well as the Orioles' Jim Johnson and the BoSox' Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

I think we showed them we're not backing down, we're not scared of them, them and their $180 million payroll, we don't care,'' Gregg said after the game.

The Red Sox won the game 10-3 and stayed in first place in the American League Eastern Division.
