Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon, suffered minor injuries when she was struck by a car while jogging Wednesday, Santa Monica, Calif., police said.

The actress was not seriously injured and is resting comfortably at home, her spokeswoman said in a statement.

Witherspoon was jogging across an unmarked crosswalk on Georgina Avenue at 20th Street around 11 a.m. when she was hit by a vehicle driven by an 84-year-old woman, Sgt. Richard Lewis said. The vehicle was traveling south on 20th street.

Lewis said Witherspoon, 35, suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.

Witherspoon became a box office sensation and A-list Hollywood star in her Legally Blonde comedy movies, and she won an Academy Award for best actress in the drama Walk the Line.
