Will King Henry die in the season finale of "Reign"? Sven Frenzel/The CW

Long live the king … or not. The Season 1 finale of “Reign” is quickly approaching, and fans better get ready for the bloodshed.

“There’s blood and guts and dying and fights and everything,” Mary’s Adelaide Kane dished to E! News. “Our last couple of episodes have these amazing battles. There’s going to be returning heroes. There’s going to be a couple of deaths; it’s going to happen. We have some really, really big stuff coming up.”

So, who will kick the bucket? A new sneak peek video for episode 22, the Season 1 finale, may reveal the answer.

“All the time I was growing up I saw him as the greatest man in France,” Francis says to Mary in the video, referring to his father, King Henry.

The father and son appeared to bond in episode 21, but in the final moments a crazed King Henry told his ghost brother that Francis must die and he must wed Mary in order to rule over England. Francis appears to have figured out his father’s terrible plan, because he’s finally ready to take serious action against him.

“It’s too late for an assassination,” Francis thinks out loud. “We’d never get near him.”

What’s plan B for the royals? A coup!

Putting the power in the hands of the military could prove to be deadly, but Francis tells his mother they have no choice. Then Mary makes a point that could change everything – King Henry dismissed some of his generals before the war. Those generals may feel betrayed by their king and use their men to take back the throne.

But what happens after they remove King Henry from power? Francis promises that his father will be imprisoned and be in the care of the finest doctors. But he’ll never be king again.

“His time will be over,” Francis tells Mary. “And you will rule beside me.”

We don’t see King Henry going down without a fight – but will that fight cost him his life? It’s definitely possible, but Henry and Francis’ lives aren’t the only ones in jeopardy in the “Reign” finale. According to the episode 22 synopsis, Mary and the others are in danger as well. “An unforeseen terror brewing in the woods could cost them, and their friends, everything,” teases the synopsis
