‘Reign’ Season 1 Spoilers: Who Will Die In The Midseason Finale? Theories For Episode 8, ‘Fated’

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD! Do NOT continue reading if you don't want to know what will happen in the midseason finale of “Reign.”

Off with their heads! “Reign” has had no problem murdering people in its freshman season, but the show has refrained from killing a major character … until now.

As we previously reported, the CW’s new series will be wrapping up the first half of its season on Thursday, Dec. 12. A leaked synopsis reveals that Mary will learn of Nostradamus’ prophecy regarding her upcoming marriage to Francis and will be forced to “make a decision that will forever change her relationship” with the future king of France. According to TV Line, the decision will “push her closer to Bash.” And while “Reign” fans have been dying to see Mary with the king’s bastard son, there is another plot point that could make the relationship that much more interestin: Diane’s plan to make Bash the heir to the throne.

Unfortunately, it looks like her plan has some flaws.

Kenna will learn of Diane’s quest to make Bash the heir and reveal her discovery to Catherine. So, will Diane die for her plotting? Thanks to some scoop from E! Online, it appears as if Diane will be safe for now … but possibly not Kenna.

“Someone very, very close to Mary, Queen of Scots -- ‘a confidant,’ to be more precise -- will bite the dust during the episode,” E! Online teased fans. Furthermore, actress Adelaide Kane suggested that “Reign” viewers have tissues and a bottle of wine handy for the midseason finale.

Queen Catherine has the ultimate chance of getting rid of the king’s longtime mistress, Diane, when she discovers her plan. However our theory is that the queen knows that her husband would always side with his true love. Kenna, on the other hand, acted out of jealousy and desire to be the No. 1 mistress of the king.

The synopsis for episode 8 teases that Kenna’s plan will end up backfiring. And while the immediate thought is that Diane will lose her life over plans of treason against the queen, the “confidant” teaser has all arrows pointing at Kenna.

“Reign” could be attempting to throw fans off though, which means that Lola, Greer and Aylee could also be killed off. Lola has grown awfully close to Bash, which could lead to someone framing her for Diane’s plan. Greer, meanwhile, has been running around with the kitchen staff, and Aylee was caught stealing from Mary by Queen Catherine.
