Reign
What will happen to Lord Julien on "Reign"?! CW

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD! Do NOT continue reading unless you have watched episode 21 of “Reign.”

“Reign” fans seemingly bid adieu to “Lord Julien” in episode 21 … but he may be making a grand return. Giacomo Gianniotti, the actor playing Lola’s hunky husband, took to Twitter to thank fans for their support and give a little teaser for next season.

Thank you so much to all the #royals for all your love and support of Lord Julien/Remy. Keep watching the show get ready for season 2! :)

To give a brief recap of episode 21, “Long Live The King,” Lord Julien’s secret was finally exposed – and no, it’s not that his family disinherited him, as he told Lola in episode 20. It turns out that Lord Julien is a bit of a con artist.

Lord Julien is actually a man named Remy. He was the secretary for Lord Julien … up until Lord Julien died in a fire at an inn. Since he had Lord Julien’s possessions in his hands at the time of his death, Remy was mistaken for the nobleman -- and he decided to run with it! But Lord Julien’s family became suspicious when they failed to hear from their son and cut off his funds. The lack of money is how Remy came up with the idea to wed Lola and take off with her dowry. But as “Reign” viewers know, he had a change of heart and decided to stay with the pregnant woman.

Unfortunately Remy’s past caught up with him in episode 21. The real Lord Julien’s Uncle Bartos arrived at the castle to seek out his nephew and his new bride. Remy was forced to come clean to Lola, and asked for her help in getting rid of Bartos.

Following Remy’s lead, the former secretary came up with a story about how Lord Julien had a serious gambling debt and left his pregnant wife. Bartos was shocked but bought the story and even offered to take care of Lola and the baby financially … until he spotted Lord Julien’s ring on Remy.

He demanded to know what happened to his nephew, and the two got into a bit of a scuffle. Lola tried to get Bartos off of Remy, and in doing so accidentally pushed Bartos into a spike in the wall. With the man dead, Remy was finally going to turn himself in. But Lola came up with another plan to help him: Say that Bartos never arrived, and burn his body beyond recognition to pass it off as Lord Julien.

While the plan would save Remy, it would also force him to flee the castle. And while Remy’s devastated, he agrees that it’s the best thing to do. But before he sets fire to the room and escapes, he makes Lola promise to let her baby’s real father be a part of her life if he’s a good man.

The ending of “Long Live The King” made it seem as if Remy/Lord Julien would be gone from “Reign” forever. However Giacomo Gianniotti’s tweet makes it sound like Lola’s hubby could make a big return in Season 2. But how would he return? Since Lola’s expected to give birth in the Season1 finale, it’s possible that Remy could come back to see his beloved and the baby.

The Season 1 finale of “Reign” will air on The CW on May 15 at 9 p.m. EDT. What do you think is going to happen? Would you like to see Remy/Lord Julien return? Take the poll and tweet your thoughts to @AmandaTVScoop.
