A sneak peek look at Season 2 of "Reign" aired at SDCC 2014 on Thursday. The CW show returns with new episodes on October 2. CW

Season 2 of “Reign” looks pretty intense. A sneak peek at the upcoming season of the hit CW show was shown at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con panel, giving loyal subjects a first look at the horrors that lie ahead for Mary, Francis, Bash and the other royals.

As we previously reported, “Reign” stars Adelaide Kane (Mary), Megan Follows (Catherine), Toby Regbo (Francis) and executive producer Laurie McCarthy were on hand on Thursday, July 24, to dish out some spoilers and give fans a sneak peek look at Season 2. Entertainment Weekly got their hands on the sneak peek video, and released it for those that weren’t able to attend the SDCC panel.

“The Black Death has returned to plague our land,” Mary says to the court while Queen Catherine and Nostradamus stand behind her. “We are prepared and we are in the best position to survive.”

However Queen Catherine knows better. “We are far from prepared to survive,” she whispers to Nostradamus as the crowd – including Bash and Kenna – begin to panic.

From that point on the sneak peek video shows a handful of familiar faces – like Bash and Queen Catherine – seemingly ill. But by the end of the clip fans realize that a little sweat and fatigue is nothing compared to the sores and oozing wounds that those infected by the plague appear to have.

Other than the plague, “Reign” viewers can see Francis with Lola and their newborn baby; Greer with her ex-lover, Leith; Kenna running into Bash’s arms; and the small child that Kenna and Bash rescued … covered in blood. “Welcome to your rule, my queen,” Catherine says to Mary in the final moments of the video. “And welcome to the real France.”
