Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-NY and his wife, Huma Abedin, are expecting their first child, according to a report.

Abedin, 35, who also serves as an aid to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, is in the early stages of pregnancy, three people with knowledge of the situation told the New York Times.

The couple has disclosed the news to their close friends and family, according to the report.

Abedin is on a trip to Northern Africa to assist Clinton, an aide said.

Weiner, 46, is fighting for his political life as Congressional leaders have isolated him, with Republicans calling for his ouster. Democrats had held fire since the Monday's admission by Weiner that he sent a lewd photo to a Seattle woman after more than a week of denying it on national media. However on Wednesday Rep. Allyson Schwartz, D-PA became the first Democrat to call for his ouster.

At a Monday press conference, he said his wife had not known about that lie until that day and had been angry about it.

We have no intention of splitting over this We will weather this, Weiner said at Monday's press conference.

I love her, she loves me. My wife is a remarkable woman. She's not responsible for any of this, he said.

I apologize to her very deeply.

Weiner has rejected any calls for him to resign.
