In the latest survey, 47 percent of America approve how Obama is doing his job. The results are the highest for Obama, the Democratic president seeking a second term, since July of this year. Also, it's a five percent improvement since the last Gallup survey, taken Dec. 16-18.

The Conan O'Brien show decided to have some fun at the expense of the Kindle Fire. On the show, an actor portrays Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos. He is on hand to show viewers how to fix issues with the Kindle Fire tablet. Bezos, or rather the actor playing Bezos, is sitting in a living room decorated by framed money.

The Van Halen 2012 Tour was announced on the band's Web site the day after Christmas. Roth left the band in 1985 to pursue a solo career, though he tried to return. Band guitarist Eddie Van Halen kicked Roth back out of the band again in 19996 and he blased the band in a letter to the media. Roth called Eddie Van Halen a liar in the letter.

Law enforcement officials in Dallas-suburb Grapevine, Texas said the man showed up for family Christmas in a Santa Claus outfit. The family apparently opened presents before the Santa gunman opened fire before ultimately killing himself -- seven died in the Christmas massacre in all.

But that's not what got Winslow ejected. After the play, Winslow taunted the player he dunked over, getting a technical foul.

The performance turned in by Thomas Horn, who plans 10-year-old Oskar Schell is an Oscar-worthy effort. Schell, who was chosen for the role despite no previous acting experience other than winning $30,000 at the age of 12 on the Jeopardy! Kids Week program, reminds us that children so often has the same difficulty navigating themselves and the troubled world around them that we all do.

The Los Angeles coroners office said 18-year-old Griffen Kramer, a backup quarterback at Thousand Oaks High school, died of acute morphone heroin toxicity, according to toxicological reports. Griffen Kramer was found dead on Oct. 30 in his Agoura Hills home.

The California Highway Patrol said the man was in an ambulance in Tustin when he began acting erratically. The ambulance was heading north on Interstate 5. CHP Officer John Patterson told The Orange County Register that the driver stopped in the interstate's center divider and the man, naked, jump out the back.
