The one question which would be weighing the heaviest on Sir Alex Ferguson’s mind would be to choose the United no.1 for the Manchester Derby – The Spaniard David De gea or the the Danish Anders Lindegaard. He has two unsettled keepers both of whom haven’t been able to impress despite getting their bunch of chances. United have conceded 33 goals so far in this season which is the 2nd worst ever after 2002 in which they conceded more than 40 goals before Christmas.
The shaky defence and a long list of the injured first team defenders such as Nemanja Vidic (out from 3 months), Chris Smalling( was out until mid November) and Phil Jones(was out till 25th November) are not the only ones responsible for United able to manage only 3 clean sheets in the 15 matches played in the league this season. The Goalkeeper plays the pivotal part and for the red devils, both have been disappointing.

Manchester United News: 5 Positives Manchester United Can Take From Last Night's Champions League Clash Against CFR Cluj
After a poor Champions league show last season and recently suffering a 3-2 defeat to Tottenham at Old Trafford last weekend, it was evident that Sir Alex Ferguson is not gonna let loosen the hook and henceforth landed a strong starting 11 in United's 2-1 win over the Romanian champions CFR Cluj in their second Champions league match last night. Manchester United have been playing way below their standards and have conceded a goal before scoring any in 6 out of the 8 matches they have played this season. Defence has been hobbling with injuries with Nemanja Vidic, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones out until start of the November. So rather than the vulnerable defence, it was time to concentrate more on the attack and make it as strong as possible. The triplet of Wayne Rooney , Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez all starting the game together justified it and United was all ready to go for the kill. Morover, it was great to see all the 3 midfielders- Darren Fletcher, Tom Cleverley and Anderson getting their first Champions league start this season.
The last year shock exit of Manchester United in the group stage of the Champions league might have given Sir Alex Ferguson many sleepless nights as to no one had ever expected this to happen. For a team which had made 3 finalist appearances in past 4 Champions league finals having won 1 of them, it was hard to believe how they could not manage to go through the group which had teams like Otelul Galati, Basel and Benfica.
Manchester United have had a good start to the season winning their last 3 matches after a bad first day at Everton and the horrible thigh injury to Wayne Rooney last month against Fulham. All the new signings have proved to be good and have not taken long to get their names on the scoresheet.
Sir Alex has stated that he won't make the same mistake again of experimenting the younger players in the group stages of the Champions league since it backfired last season. The Red Devils will look to forget the memories of last year and need to make a strong statement this year starting with a win against the Turkish side Galastaray in their first match of the new Champions league season .
Finally, the Crewe Alexandra star Nick Powell made his debut for Manchester United in the 4-0 win over Wigan at Old Trafford this weekend. Powell was introduced as a substitute in a game which marked the milestone achievements of the United legends with Paul Scholes, 37, giving his 700th performance in the Red devils shirt, Rio Ferdinand his 400th and Ryan Giggs played his 600th premier league game.
Powell was quick, showed good feet and passing and was a treat to watch. He scored in the 82nd minute cutting through the defence of Wigan and fired in a cracking shot from 20 yards out straight into the wigan net. He replaced none other than Paul Scholes in the 71st minute who scored the opening goal of the match and Powell himself scored the 4th and the final goal thus making it a bloodlust and a perfect start for the Red devils to a tough week ahead with Champions league match against Galastaray and the masterpiece being the United - Liverpool derby at Anfield next weekend.
