The New York State Senate Republican Conference will meet to determine whether there will be a vote on same-sex marriage, which according to Republican sources has the 32 votes needed to pass.

We're going to conference the language of the amendments, said Dean Skelos, the Republican Senate Majority Leader emerging from a closed door meeting with Governo Cuomo.

Predicting the 32-member GOP conference would be lengthy, Skelos refused to say if he would be obligated to call a vote sooner rather than later Thursday night.

I'm not going to work under time constraints, Skelos said.

Cuomo has spent much of the past few weeks meeting with a few Republican Senators who lobbied for protections from lawsuits from religious organizations who don't want to service gay couples.
