The dead have come back to life. But do they deserve the chance to reunite with their loved ones? Fans of “The Returned” won’t want to make any plans for Halloween night. It’s been three years since the show first aired, and now Season 2 of the hit French series premieres on SundanceTV Saturday, Oct. 31. The network released the first trailer for the spine-tingling new installment, previewing all the deadly drama that lies ahead for the small French town.

The new season picks up six months after the Season 1 finale, which found the Revenants disappearing into the mountains and the town flooded. No one has seen or heard from the dead – but that doesn’t mean they’re not thought about. Léna (Jenna Thiam) and Jérôme (Frédéric Pierrot) are still working to find Claire (Anne Consigny) and Camille (Yara Pilartz). Meanwhile, Adèle (Clotilde Hesme) is about to give birth to Simon’s (Pierre Perrier) second child.

Things are about to get seriously shaken up, though. Rumors are circulating that the dead are back again -- and a “mysterious man named Berg (Laurent Lucas)” shows up. According to the synopsis, Berg “knows more than he claims.” But what exact knowledge does he possess? And is he connected to the Revenants? Creator Fabrice Gobert revealed that Berg is an engineer “trying to figure out what happened.” He’s not from the town, but he still has something to hide.

And Berg won’t be the only new face in Season 2 of “The Returned.” Viewers also will meet Virgil (Ernst Umhauer), another mysterious member of the Revenants who gets tangled up with Camille. Audrey (Armande Boulanger), another victim from Camille’s 2008 bus crash, also will appear, along with a man named Étienne (Aurélien Recoing), who died 35 years ago, and Milan (Michaël Abiteboul), who died 30 years prior.
