Texas Governor Rick Perry was indicted on two felony counts by a state grand jury on Friday following a lengthy investigation into his attempt to try to force Travis District County district attorney Rosemary Lehmberg to resign in June 2013.

The indictment centers on how Perry threatened to veto $7.5 million worth of state funding to the Public Integrity Unit run by Lehmberg. Perry had attempted to force the resignation of Lehmberg after she pleaded guilty to drunk driving and served a 45-day sentence, but she refused.

The grand jury issued two felony charges against Perry: abuse of official capacity and coercion of a public servant. The charges carry a maximum of 109 years in jail.
