Megachurch pastor, Rick Warren, posted what he described as an urgent letter on his website Wednesday seeking $900,000 to make up the deficit for the year.

On the last weekend of 2009, our total offerings were less than half of what we normally receive - leaving us $900,000 in the red for the year, unless you help make up the difference today and tomorrow, the blog post read.

Warren said that despite the recession, Saddleback Church managed to stay on budget all year until last weekend when the bottom dropped out.

If we all do our part, we'll end this year in the black and start the new decade with high hopes!, Warren added.
