Rihanna wore a brown shirtdress as she walked the red carpet at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas Sunday. The 28-year-old singer opted for a demure look for the annual music awards function. She showed off her cleavage and toned legs in the dress.
The pop queen’s brown vintage shirtdress featured slightly puffed three-quarter length sleeves, suiting-like lapels and button closures. The wrap dress also had huge shoulder pads. Her entire look was kept minimal, a complete shift from her backless, plunging necklines and extra short dresses.
Her vintage dress is by Thierry Mugler, from the label’s Spring/Summer 1988 collection. The brown silk shirt dress was a fashion risk, but Rihanna is known as a style chameleon and is capable of doing anything. The dress had a subtle sheen and asymmetric fastening.
RiRi also wore a lot less bling. She accessorized with diamond bracelets, rings, an oversize diamond and garnet ring, and earrings by Neil Lane earrings. The “Diamonds” hitmaker teamed the look with custom pointy high heels (mules) by Manolo Blahnik with glittery buckles. Her dark hair was styled into a fuss-free banged bob.
The singer showed off her hand and ankle tattoos in the minidress. RiRi opted for natural make-up with nude lipgloss and fairly natural eye make-up. The Barbados beauty also flaunted her deep brown manicure. Rihanna is mostly bang on trend when it comes to her red carpet looks.
RiRi was completely recognizable in a crowd of embellishments and bling seen elsewhere on the red carpet and stood out against other A-list celebs. The singer later changed into a green shimmery and strappy gown by Dries Van Noten as she collected the Billboard Chart Achievement Award. She wore the same accessories except for large diamond hoop earrings by Jacob & Company.
RiRi also gave a power-packed performance channeling Whitney Houston. She upped her glam quotient in a black cleavage baring suit. She paired it with a green fur stole and black high heels. Rihanna sand her new single “Love on the Brain.”
