Research In Motion (RIM) has started slashing the price of its BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet by $200 in order to boost lagging sales.

Earlier in September it was reported that RIM Chief Executive Officer Jim Balsillie said the company had plans to cut the price of its tablet in the form of rebates. At the time RIM has said it sold some 200,000 units of the PlayBook during its August quarter, according to reports.

BGR.com had reported back then that Balsillie also said software upgrade was forthcoming for the PlayBook.

So in order to boost the tablet sale, RIM is offering three versions of the tablet -- a 16GB model, a 32GB model and one that is 64GB -- on sale at various locations nationwide. Here's where you can find the PlayBook tablet sale.

Staples: It is offering $100 in instant savings and $100 in the form of a mail-in rebate.

Office Depot: Here you get $100 instant savings on the PlayBook.

Best Buy: You can save $100 on the BlackBerry purchase at Best Buy. The retailer's sale ends on Oct. 6.
