“Riverdale” Season 2 will finally solve the mystery surrounding Fred Andrews (Luke Perry) in the premiere episode.

While at the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con, executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that the identity of the person who shot Fred will be unveiled in episode 1. And due to Fred’s recent shooting, his son, Archie (KJ Apa), will be forever changed. In fact, a much darker Archie will be featured in the upcoming 22 episodes of the hit The CW series.

Cast member Cole Sprouse also opened up about his character, Jughead, who is now a member of the Southside Serpents. “[Jughead] is placed in the middle of two worlds that are starting to collide and erupt. It’s going to start forcing him to pick a side, which is a dangerous place for him to be in because he’s a very morally grey character,” he said (via TV Line).

Sprouse added that he won’t have as much screentime with the characters as he did in Season 1. But Jughead will still be spending a lot of time with his girlfriend, Betty (Lili Reinhart). According to Reinhart, Jughead and Betty’s relationship will be put to the test. “She doesn’t want to lose her man and also doesn’t want him to get into any danger,” she said.

Meanwhile, the official teaser for Season 2 was was unveiled during Saturday’s panel. The one-minute clip opens with a panicked Archie bringing his dad to the hospital to receive treatment. In the next scene, Archie tells his friends that his dad was shot at Pop Tate and while telling them the story, he suddenly stops sharing further information.

Jughead realizes that Archie may know something about his dad’s shooter, but the latter decides to withhold information from them. Elsewhere in the clip, Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) visits her mom at the hospital. It is confirmed that the Blossom matriarch burned her body following the house fire that Cheryl herself started in the Season 1 finale.

“Riverdale” Season 2 will premiere on The CW on Oct 11 at 9 p.m. EST.
