Rob Gronkowski apologized Wednesday for pictures with adult film star BiBi Jones that ended up on Twitter last weekend during the New England Patriots' bye week.

Gronkowski, the Patriots tight end, told reporters at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday that he told Patriots owner Robert Kraft he was sorry if it affected the organization's reputation.

I didn't intend anything to hurt the reputation of anyone on the New England Patriots or on behalf of Robert Kraft, Gronkowski said. That's all, just a simple picture, that's all. From here on out, I'm just here to talk about the Pittsburgh Steelers and the big game this weekend.

Sure you are.

The backstory: BiBi Jones, noted actress of such classics as Fighters, BiBi Jones: The Crib, Cutie Pies 2 and She's So Cute! 3 posted multiple pictures of the pair together on Twitter.

In both, BiBi Jones is wearing a Rob Gronkowski jersey. In one, Rob Gronkowski is, well, not wearing a shirt at all. Jones told her followers to follow my favorite football player @RobGronkowski, and, yes, she added a wink.

Then she went on The Toucher and Rich Show on Boston radio, talking about Rob Gronkowski and other athletes she has hung out with, including the Atlanta Braves' (MLB) Dan Uggla and the Phoenix Coyotes' (NHL) Paul Bissonnette.

Jones told The Toucher and Rich Show that she and Gronkowski met through mutual friends while he visited the University of Arizona -- where he played in college -- on the Patriots' bye week.

Jones also said that nothing happened between her and Gronkowski, although she added, I wish something happened. What an unhappy ending.

Anyway, the rest of the Boston media not on The Toucher and Rich Show weren't going to let Gronkowski get off as easy as his first response. So they kept asking and pressing him about it, asking if Gronkowski regretted anything about the incident between him and Jones.

[I was] not intending to hurt anyone or ruin the reputation of the New England Patriots in any way, Gronkowski said to that. Good organization here.

Earlier this year, Gronkowski exchanged tweets with model Kate Upton, who rose to fame because of her work in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue this year.

Then he tried to shift the topic to the Steelers and the big game, but no, you're not going to get off that easy, Rob Gronkowski.

Gronkowski, incidentally, played his senior year of high school in the Pittsburgh area. And so, that was a topic of conversation once he successfully shifted the focus.

It's definitely fun going back to wherever you spent time before in your life, Gronkowski said.

Yeah, like that time when you went back to Arizona and met BiBi Jones? That time?
