Robert Hegyes, the actor who player Juan Epstein on the '70s sitcom Welcome Back Kotter, died Thursday at the of 60. Reports are that Hegyes died of an apparent heart attack, after suffering chest pains at his Metuchen, N.J., home.

Reports are that police responded to an emergency call from Hegyes' home at approximately 9 a.m. and the actor was taken to JFK Medical Center in Edison, N.J.. He had already gone into full cardiac arrest, MSN reported. That report also noted that Hegyes wasn't in good health for the past two years and that he had suffered a heart attack in recent years.

Hegyes appeared in the detective series Cagney and Lacy and also guest-starred in NewsRadio. He was, however, best known as one of the Sweathogs in the 1970s sitcom where he played the character Juan Luis Pedro Phillipo de Huevos Epstein opposite John Travolta and Gabe Kaplan.

Hegyes is survived by two children, Cassie and Mack, and two stepchildren, Sophia and Alex.
