Robusta coffee dropped in London after some investors interchanged the bitter-tasting beans for Arabica variety.

Robusta coffee for May delivery fell by 2.2 percent or $51 to $2,228 a ton.

Arabica coffee for May delivery increased by 0.5 percent to $1.298 a pound on ICE Futures U.S., the former New York Board of Trade.

Arabica coffee, which is used by coffeehouse operators such as Starbucks dropped by 4.7 percent.

Coffee exports from Brazil the world's largest producer fell by 5.4 percent in March after it shipped about 1.72 million bags compared with 1.82 million bags in February.
