Rockefeller Center Skating Celebrated 75th Anniversary on Christmas Day

The famous Midtown ice pond, Rockefeller Center Skating Rink, will turn 75 on Christmas day. Since it was opened, the spot has been popular among New York City skaters as well as visitors from all over the world.

The occasion was celebrated on Thursday by figure skaters Colleen McGuire and Josiah Modes in addition to a few members of the Rockettes. The rink was opened on Dec. 25, 1936. It was recently skated on by the SNL cast at the end of the episode that Jimmy Fallon hosted.
