Halloween is full of traditions, and for many, those yearly events include “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” The 1975 cult film is an October classic, but it’s not on TV much this year.

“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” follows what happens when newlyweds Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon) run into car trouble and head to Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s (Tim Curry) creepy mansion for help. They meet a number of unusual folks hanging out at the mansion, and they learn that they’ve come on a wild night. The scientist is bringing his latest creation to life: a sexy man named Rocky (Peter Hinwood). Meat Loaf also stars.

As of press time, no TV channels are planning to air the Tim Curry starrer from now until Halloween. However, those who want to see “Rocky Horror” on the big screen are in luck. Many movie theaters are running late night showings on Fridays and Saturdays. For the most part, participating AMC theaters seem to be starting their showings at 10 p.m. They are also offering tickets at a discounted price of $5 (plus tax). You can see the list of AMC theaters offering “Rocky Horror” showings HERE.

Other theaters, including Bow Tie Cinemas and many independent theaters, start their showings closer to midnight. Check with your local cinema to see if “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” is playing. If it is in theaters, you’ll want to check the company’s policy on which “RHPS” viewing traditions are acceptable. Rituals such as dressing in costume and throwing rice and toilet paper aren’t going to be embraced by every theater.

If you’re looking to watch Dr. Frank-N-Furter bring Rocky to life from the comfort of your own home, there are still some other options, despite the movie not being on TV. “Rocky Horror Picture Show” is not streaming on Hulu or Netflix, however, so you will have to pay a few bucks to see the movie.

You can rent the original movie for as little as $2.99 on YouTube, Amazon Video, Google Play and Vudu. The remake, however, is a little more difficult to find.

Last year, Fox televised a live performance of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do The Time Warp Again.” Laverne Cox took over as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Adam Lambert stepped into Meat Loaf’s role and Victoria Justice played Janet. The reviews weren’t particularly kind to this remake, but if you were a fan, you’ll have to go to Amazon to get it. With no rental option, it’s only available for purchase at $9.99.

If you just cannot get enough “Rocky Horror,” check and see if your community theater will be hosting live performances. “The Rocky Horror Show” is plenty of fun on stage too.
