Monday, a report released by Romania's National Institute of Statistics showed that the trade deficit in March stood at EUR566.1 million, lower than the EUR803 million deficit in February. Last year, in March, the trade deficit was EUR2.08 billion.

Exports dropped 6.9% year-on-year in March to EUR2.5 billion, while imports slipped 35.3% annually to EUR3.1 billion.

Month-on-month, exports grew 23% in March, while imports increased 8.4% from February.

During the first quarter, exports fell 19.4% and imports were down 35.4% compared to the corresponding period in the previous year. The trade deficit during this period stood at EUR1.99 billion.
