RTTNews - Consumer prices in Romania rose 5.95% year-on-year in May, the National Institute of Statistics said Wednesday.

This was reflected in a 6.59% rise in the price of non-food items and a 4.02% increase in food prices. Service prices were up 8.47% in May.

Month-on-month, consumer prices remained almost flat in May, rising 0.01% compared to a 0.27% increase in April. Prices of services and non-food items rose 0.11% and 0.03% respectively, while prices of food fell 0.05%.

For the first five months of the year, consumer prices climbed 0.6%, at the same pace compared to the corresponding period in the previous year.
