The Romanian Leu edged up against the US dollar in New York early morning on Monday. At 7:30 am ET, the Romania currency climbed to a new multi-month high of 3.0660 versus the greenback, compared to Friday's New York session close of 3.1717. Thereafter, the pair reversed its direction and as of now worth 3.1010.

The National Institute of Statistics said today, Romania's average nominal wages rose 0.2% month-on-month in February to 1,358 lei. At the same time, the gross earnings were up 1.3% to 1,863 lei.

The statistical office said the net nominal earning was the highest in air transport, at 3,313 lei.

Annually, average nominal earnings increased 19.8% in February from previous year.

Romania's National Institute of Statistics also announced that the producer price index or PPI rose 6.2% year-over-year in February, slower than the 6.9% increase in the previous month. On a monthly basis, the PPI rose 0.6% in February, after rising 1.9% In January.

Producer prices for manufacturing increased 6.8% annually in February, while producer prices for mining dropped 7.2%.
