Prince William and wife Kate will attend the inaugural 'BAFTA Brits to Watch' event on July 9 in Downtown Los Angeles where they will help promote forty-two emerging British individuals selected by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

William, formally known as His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge, is BAFTA's President and was appointed to the role in 2010.

The event will take place at the Belasco Theater.

BAFTA did not reveal the names of the actors.

They will generally not be complete beginners in their industry, and will have already begun to show real promise, BAFTA said.

Representatives from film, television and video games will also be in attendance at the black-tie evening event.

The event will showcase some of the work from the individuals selected.

There is almost nothing better than going to see a really good film, so this is a personal thrill for me too, Prince William in July of 2010 when he was first appointed to the post.
