Fresh off her "Dancing With the Stars" win Rumer Willis is heading to Broadway. The 26-year-old performer and her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, took home the highly coveted mirrorball trophy during the most recent season of the competition series. Now she's onto her next big career move.

According to People magazine Willis will appear in "Chicago." She made the announcement via Instagram and Twitter on Thursday saying she "could not be more excited." She will play the part of Roxie Hart during an eight week, limited engagement. Willis will be taking over the role for singer Brandy, who has been starring in the show since late April, according to Vanity Fair.

The young star joins a long list of actresses to have taken on the role. According to Jezebel, "Chicago" is currently the longest running American musical on Broadway. Since it first hit the great white way in 2004 several successful stars have be chosen for the part. During it's first shows Gretchen Mol played Roxie. The role was then taken over by ladies such as Brooke Shields, Rita Wilson, "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Lisa Rinna and Ashlee Simpson.

Willis and Chmerkovskiy won "DWTS" Season 20 on May 19. The duo beat Noah Galloway and partner Sharna Burgess and Riker Lynch and partner Allison Holker for first-place. Despite coming out on top, the season was a tough one for Willis. As previously reported, during filming she opened up about body image issues she had, as well as bullying. She elaborated more on the issue in an essay she wrote for Glamour magazine after Season 20 ended.

Willis will make her Broadway debut on Aug. 18. She is scheduled to continue the role into the fall with her last performance set for Oct. 11.
