Russell Armstrong, the alienated husband of the reality show "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Taylor Armstrong was found dead in an apparent suicide on Monday evening at a house in Los Angeles.
The 47-year-old venture capitalist Armstrong's body was found hanged in a bedroom by his wife Taylor and a friend. The tragic incident occurred just three weeks before the reality show is scheduled to return to U.S. television.
In July, Taylor appealed for divorce, and her struggle to keep their six-year-old married life alive was expected to be a significant theme in the next season of the show. The premiere of the second season of the popular reality TV show is scheduled on September 5.
However, the cable channel Bravo has not yet revealed any plan either on broadcasting the season, or dealing with Russell's death. The channel said on Tuesday that it was "deeply saddened by this tragic news."
"Taylor Armstrong is devastated by the tragic events that have unfolded," her representative said in a statement. "She requests privacy at this time so that she may comfort her young daughter."
The couple has a five year-old daughter, Kennedy, while Russell Armstrong has two more sons from a previous relationship.
In the opening episode of the second season has been sent to TV writers, in which Taylor Armstrong, 40, speaks about the couple entering counseling. She shops for sexy underwear in a bid to spice up their love life, she added.
In an interview with People magazine, Taylor told that she after she filed for divorce in July; she had explosive arguments with Russell. She accused him of pushing and shoving her.
According to Russell's lawyer Ronald Richards, he had huge debt problems and was hit by a $1.5 million breach of contract lawsuit in July. The company that filed the lawsuit said that it hired Russell to expand business, but he had misused the funds for redecorating the Los Angeles mansion he shared with his wife, Reuters reported.
"His credit cards weren't working...He had tremendous financial problems," TMZ.com quoted Richards as saying. His divorce with Taylor had also affected Russell, Richards said.
