The New Orleans Police Department has issued a warrant for comedian, actor and singer, Russell Brand on Wednesday for allegedly throwing a photographer's iPhone earlier this week.

Brand was reportedly named in a police report after a run-in with a paparazzo, Timothy Jackson, on Monday. Brand allegedly grabbed the photographer's iPhone out of his hand and threw it out the window of a law firm, reported TMZ.

Brand, who is in New Orleans filming a movie, has not denied grabbing the phone and breaking a window at the firm, but he took to Twitter to sarcastically respond to the allegations.

Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory, Tweeted Russell Brand.

Brand reportedly offered to pay for the window at the firm. Jackson immediately filed a police report after the incident, claiming criminal damages, according to MTV. Jackson was with a group of paparazzi who attempted to take a photo of the 36-year-old actor. There are no details about why Brand allegedly targeted Jackson.

This isn't the first time Katy Perry's ex had a run in with the law. In 2010, he was arrested on suspected battery charges for allegedly attacking a paparazzo at a Los Angeles International Airport. However, he and his lawyers came to an agreement with prosecutors and did not receive any jail time.

iPhone attacks seem to be a continuing trend for celebrities. Last month, Chris Breezy Brown was accused of robbing Christal Spann's phone while she was in a vehicle. She claimed the singer reached into her window and grabbed the phone before he took off. No arrests were ever made on the incident and no warrant was issued.
