Russia will add three new military divisions to counter the growing strength of The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Russian agencies quoted Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu as saying on Wednesday.

The divisions, which will be deployed along Russia's western and southern borders, will be formed by the end of the year, the Interfax news agency reported.

"The Ministry of Defense has adopted a series of measures to counter the growing capacity of NATO forces in close proximity to the Russian borders," it cited Shoigu as saying.
