Every Nicholas Sparks fans' dream may finally be coming true. More than four years after their heartrending split, "The Notebook" stars Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams may be in the process of getting back together.

According to a report from OK! magazine, McAdams, 35, has been getting friendly with her ex in an effort to win back the “Drive” film star. “She 100 percent wants him back,” a source told the tabloid, adding that the Canadian native has been “playing it smart” in attempting to woo back her former on-screen-turned off-screen lover. “[Rachel] has been very low-key about it all … She’s used the whole ‘just friends’ angle to get close to Ryan again,” said the insider, who claims Gosling, 33, hasn’t been open with his actress-girlfriend Eva Mendes about his bond with McAdams.

“He’s not the cheating type, but he hasn’t been honest with Eva about how much contact he has with Rachel,” the source said when discussing the Gosling and McAdams rumor.

Despite multiple rumors that Gosling and Mendes recently split up, OK! claims they're still an item and their three-year relationship is merely going through a rough patch. “The romance is definitely on shaking ground,” an insider, who said the pair have a difference of opinion when it comes to matrimony, said. “Eva loves that man and wants to marry him," added the source. "It’s a shame she’s not been able to convince him of that.”

While it remains to be seen if Gosling and McAdams will get back together, a source said that “none of Ryan’s friends think Eva is the right woman for him, and now that Ryan has admitted he and Eva are having trouble, everyone in his circle is trying to steer him toward Rachel.”

Coincidentally, Mendes, 40, mentioned the Sparks film during an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” when discussing her Valentine’s Day plans. “I’m not a big Valentine’s Day person. I’ll probably just order a deep dish and watch ‘The Notebook’ or something,” Mendes, who laughed, said before going on to say that her night would also include “crying” and “weeping.”
