Ryan Reynolds apparently isn’t having a good 2014 Cannes Film Festival. The actor was there to promote the premiere of “The Captive” on Friday, but after the movie’s less than stellar screening, he skipped the movie’s after-party, a source told Us Weekly.

Instead of schmoozing, Reynolds, 37, and wife Blake Lively, 26, who wore a Gucci strapless gown to the event, opted for a "low-key late-night snack,” the source said.

Lively was said to be “really affectionate” when the couple dined at the Hotel Martinez terrace restaurant around 1 a.m. Saturday after the premiere. Reynolds "seemed preoccupied on his cell phone.”

A source tells Us Weekly: "Ryan definitely seemed a little on edge. Wouldn't be surprised if he skipped out on his party because the film is getting terrible reviews."

Variety, for instance, branded the film “a ludicrous abduction thriller that finds a once-great filmmaker [Atom Egoyan] slipping into previously unentered realms of self-parody," and added it "was greeted with a smattering of boos” during the Cannes screening.

No wonder Lively was reportedly trying to cheer up her mate. “She rubbed his arm like she was consoling him and kept whispering in his ear,” the source continued. "At one point, Ryan smiled … and leaned into her for a kiss on the lips."

The film is set to premiere in theaters on Aug. 21, according to the Internet Movie Database. “The Captive” also stars Scott Speedman and Rosario Dawson.
