RTTNews - Tuesday, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa or NAAMSA said in a report that the new vehicle sales dropped 27.4% year-over-year in July, compared with a 23.7% fall in the previous month.

New vehicle sales declined by 11,606 units to 30, 731 units in July, compared to the 42,337 units sold in the previous year. In June, the new vehicle sales were 30.065 units.

The new car sales dropped 27.6% year-on-year to 18,818 units in July, compared to the 25,999 units last year.

At the same time, new light commercial vehicles, bakkies and minibuses decreased 22.5% to 10,179 units, smaller than the 13,131 units in a year ago.

Export sales for vehicles dipped 60.3% year-on-year to 11,220 vehicles in July, compared with a 28,264 vehicles exported last year.

For the first seven months of the year, new vehicle sales dropped 32.7% compared to the same period of the previous year. During the period, new vehicles sales totaled 224,706 units.

Total vehicle sales declined 25,9% annually in July, while new car sales decreased 25.1%, reported by the AMH Group.
