RTTNews - Thursday, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa or NAAMSA said in a report that the new vehicle sales dropped 23.7% year-over-year in June, compared with a 34.7% fall in the previous month.

New vehicle sales declined by 9,347 units to 30, 065 units in June, compared to the 39,412 units sold in the previous year. In May, the new vehicle sales were 25,819 units.

The new car sales dropped 17.4% year-on-year to 19,035 units in June, compared to the 23,050 units last year. At the same time, new light commercial vehicles, bakkies and minibuses decreased 27.8% to 9,490 units, smaller than the 13,144 units in a year ago.

Export sales for vehicles dipped 52.5% year-on-year to 11,760 vehicles in June, after falling 41.3% in May.

For the first half months of the year, the total vehicle sales declined 33.8% compared to the same period of the previous year. At the same time, the vehicle sales totaled 190,245 units, down from 287,454 units in a year earlier.
