RTTNews - Wednesday, the Statistics South Africa announced that the retail sales at constant prices dropped 6.7% year-over-year in April, compared with a revised 4.9% fall in the previous month. Economists were looking for a decline of 5.6%.

During the February to April period, retail sales at constant prices dipped 5.4% over a year ago.

For the first four months of the year, retail sales declined 3.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Meanwhile, retail sales at current prices increased 4.4% year-on-year in April, slower than the 7% increase in the previous month.
