Thursday, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa or NAAMSA said the new vehicle sales dropped 30.3% year-on-year in March, after a 36.3% decline in February.

New vehicle sales declined 15,815 units to 36,331 units in March, compared to the 52,146 units in the previous year.

New car sales dropped 23.4% to 21 282 units in March, compared to the 27 790 new cars sold in the preceding year.

For the first quarter, the aggregate new vehicle sales slipped 34.2% compared to the same period in the previous year.

Meanwhile, export of new vehicle sales dropped 22% to 17,896 units in March from last year.
